Turkey plans to open flights to Russia in July, the portal reports "Association of Tour Operators".

According to leading Turkish media outlets, Minister of Tourism and Culture Mehmet Ersoy and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu met with Antalya Governor Munir Karaoglu and representatives of the tourism sector to discuss a plan to return tourism.

According to the industry minister, the intensity of inbound tourism to Turkey will begin to increase from mid-July. Ersoy stressed that the Turkish side is in close contact with Russia, as well as with Great Britain and Germany, discussing the prospects for the return of these markets in July.

“We expect tourists to come actively from all three countries,” Ersoy said. He stressed that Turkish Airlines (THY), the national carrier, will start operating flights to 22 destinations in 19 countries in June.

As a reminder, THY's schedule for June does not include flights to Russia and Great Britain. In the schedule, from the countries of the first three Turkish inbound tourism, only Germany, which is represented by 4 destinations. THY plans to start flights to the cities of the Russian Federation (Moscow and St. Petersburg) and the UK (London, Manchester) only in July.

The source recalled the recent statements by Aeroflot that the resumption of international flights is possible in mid-July. Currently, the national carrier has suspended all international flights until August 1, 2020.

At the meeting with the tourism industry in Antalya, the tourism launch plan was announced in the following points: from the end of June, flights and buses are launched on both domestic and international flights; all tourist sites, including airports, will have social distancing lines and strict hygiene practices. Access to the airport without a mask will be prohibited. There will be no buffet in hotels.
