Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday evening announced a possible weakening of restrictive measures in a televised address following a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic.

“March will be the month we come a long way in terms of vaccinations and see very high numbers. We are launching a gradual process of normalization from the beginning of March, dividing our provinces into four categories in accordance with the criteria set by the Ministry of Health, ”the head of state said.

According to the president, the classification of the provinces will depend on criteria such as the incidence rate and the number of vaccinated and divided into 4 risk categories:

low

average

tall

very tall

As previously noted by the head of the Ministry of Education Ziya Selcuk, the return of children to school will be considered in each province separately, which Erdogan confirmed in his statement.

“The situation of our distance learning students will be judged by the number of infections in each province. We will gradually remove weekend restrictions in our provinces, looking back at the number of diseases and the rate of vaccinations. It is important to reduce the number of cases, ”the Turkish leader stressed.

Steps will also be published in the coming days to ease bans on cafes, restaurants and food service outlets, according to the president.
