Banana production in Turkey has doubled over the past two years. Last year, the banana crop increased by 32%, exceeding 728 thousand tons.
The leader in the production of bananas in Turkey last year was the province of Mersin, where more than half of the crop was harvested - 405 thousand tons. Antalya province has the second largest banana production. Last year, 297 thousand tons of bananas were harvested here.
Among the cities in the province, the most bananas were grown in the city of Manavgat. In Alanya last year, they harvested 80 thousand tons of bananas.
