The Turkish Ministry of Health has approved the emergency use of the Chinese CoronaVac vaccine against COVID-19, samples of which have been tested in the country's laboratories over the past 14 days.
"As a result of scientific assessments and all inspections, the Agency for Medicines and Medical Equipment under the Turkish Ministry of Health approved the emergency use of the said vaccine," the ministry said in a statement.
Mass vaccination of the population began on Wednesday evening, and the Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca himself, who was the first in the country to receive a live injection, became an example for everyone.
“I emphasize that everyone should be vaccinated. It is imperative to be vaccinated so that you can return to our normal life. From tomorrow, vaccinations of health workers will begin throughout the country. Our citizens will be able to observe the vaccination program on the Internet, ”the head of the Ministry of Health said live.
On his Twitter blog, Koca also revealed that after vaccination, an automatic SMS message is sent to the phone about the procedure.
Vaccination in Turkey is absolutely free and voluntary, but the distribution of the medicine will take place in several stages:
1. Health workers
2. Seniors over 65
3. Civil servants and military
4. Other groups of citizens
Vaccination takes place in two injections 28 days after each other. You can register for the procedure through the state portal e-Devlet, the MHRS.GOV.TR website or by calling 182, and you can see your turn in the e-Nabız system. The required doses will be indexed with a special barcode. This is for transparency in the vaccination process.
